Neil McCallum, Fraser Watts and George Reifer Inducted Into Cricket Scotland Hall of Fame
Three former Scotland internationals honoured for their outstanding contributions to Scottish cricket
It was a memorable weekend for Scottish cricket as former internationals Neil McCallum, Fraser Watts and George Reifer were inducted into the Cricket Scotland Hall of Fame during Scotland’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 fixtures at Forfarshire Cricket Club in Dundee.
McCallum and Watts were honoured during Scotland’s match against Canada on Friday, August 7, while Reifer received his Hall of Fame recognition during the match against the United Arab Emirates on Sunday, August 9.
Neil McCallum Honoured After Distinguished Scotland Career
Neil McCallum earned 135 caps for Scotland during an international career spanning from 2000 to 2011 and scored 2,904 runs for his country.
One of the most respected batters of his generation, McCallum produced several memorable performances for Scotland. Among them was his first ODI century against Ireland in Nairobi in 2007, helping Scotland complete a dramatic last-ball victory. He also enjoyed considerable success in first-class cricket, recording an average of 44.62.
Fraser Watts Celebrated for More Than 200 Scotland Appearances
Fraser Watts also received Hall of Fame recognition after an impressive international career in which he represented Scotland 204 times between 1998 and 2012. Together, Watts and McCallum accumulated 339 caps for Scotland.
Watts developed into an attacking top-order batter and represented Scotland on some of cricket’s biggest stages. His career highlights included an ODI century against Canada and appearances at both the 50-over Cricket World Cup and T20 World Cup.
George Reifer Recognised for Contribution to Scottish Cricket
George Reifer completed the weekend’s Hall of Fame celebrations when he was honoured during Scotland’s match against UAE.
Born in Barbados, Reifer first arrived in Scotland in 1987 as a club professional before qualifying to represent his adopted country. He played 53 matches for Scotland between 1991 and 1996, scoring 1,763 runs and also contributing 34 wickets with his medium-pace bowling.
During the ceremony against UAE, Reifer was presented with a golden commemorative cap as former teammates, friends and supporters celebrated his contribution to Scottish cricket.
A Special Celebration of Scottish Cricket History
The three inductions recognise players from different eras who made lasting contributions to Scotland’s development on the international stage.
Cricket Scotland President Omar Henry, who chairs the Hall of Fame Appointment Panel, congratulated the inductees and highlighted the significance of publicly recognising players who have contributed to the growth of cricket in Scotland.
For McCallum, Watts and Reifer, the Hall of Fame honour provides fitting recognition of careers that helped shape Scottish cricket and inspire the generations that followed.
